Single Marine Program

The Single Marine Program (SMP) functions to support single Marines’ leisure interests and Quality of Life (QOL) concerns. SMP serves as the voice for single Marines in identifying concerns, developing initiatives, and providing recommendations through advocacy, recreational activities, special events, and community involvement.

Recurring Volunteer Opportunities

Chow Hall Info Table

• Volunteers are needed for tabling at the chow hall. We will set up by the main entrance to the chow hall every Wednesday from 1100-1300. There are two shifts. Do not sign up for both unless you can commit to the full two hours. This volunteer event is for single and unaccompanied service members ONLY. Sign up HERE.

Craven County Habitat for Humanity (POV Only)

• Assist with Habitat’s newest builds and projects in New Bern! For all details, meeting locations, and times, please visit cravencountyhabitat.charityproud.org/VolunteerRegistration/Calendar. Preregistration on Habitat’s website required Please wear closed toed shoes, and weather appropriate civilian attire. All PPE will be provided.

Havelock Little League

• Havelock Little League is looking for volunteers. They are looking for people who will help keep score of games as well as help out in the concession stand. Date and times vary. Havelock Youth Rams are also looking for a cheerleading coach. Call 734-752-5241 if interested.

Normandy Military Museum Restoration (ongoing; typically Saturdays)

• Love history? Want to help save our WWII history and other military history? Learn how to restore some of the coolest artifacts and VEHICLES at the Newport Normandy Military Museum. POV only. Please email Frank for questions or to register.

Outer Banks Wildlife Shelter (available 7 days a week)

• Assist with a variety of projects and daily tasks at the Outer Banks Wildlife Shelter, Bogue Sound, which include cleaning and feeding the wildlife residents. Volunteer shifts are 0900-1300 or 1300-1700, but can be flexible. Please call the shelter in advance to let them know you’re coming. Call 252-240-1200.

MCCS Youth Sports Coaching (ongoing)

• Change the lives of young athletes through our Youth Sports volunteer coaching program. Opportunities throughout the year; about 3-5 hours per week. Call Youth Sports at 466-5493.
