Green Beret and former NFL player Nate Boyer will visit Cherry Point on Thursday, May 18 for an afternoon Meet & Greet and a showing of the movie, MVP, in the evening.

During the Meet & Greet at the Public House from 11 am-1 pm, Nate will talk about his story: how he started playing in the NFL, became involved with the movie industry, and started the MVP organization.

Prior to the showing of the movie at 6 pm, Nate will greet patrons and say a few words prior to the start of the film. He will also be available after the movie for anyone that would like to say hello.

Both the Meet & Greet and movie are free and open to all patrons.

Nate Boyer

Nate Boyer is an Army Green Beret, football player and actor.

After serving six years and multiple tours for the Army in both Iraq and Afghanistan, Boyer played college football as a walk-on at the University of Texas despite never having played a down of organized football in his life. He was signed by the Seattle Seahawks as an undrafted free agent in 2015.

Nate and Fox Sports NFL Insider Jay Glazer founded MVP (Merging Vets & Players) in 2015. They wanted to address the challenges combat veterans and former professional athletes face in transition once the uniform comes off.

MVP empowers combat veterans and former professional athletes by connecting them after the uniform comes off, providing them with a new team to assist with transition, promote personal development, and show them they are never alone.

Boyer’s belief that “Anything is Possible” has served him well throughout his life and has made him especially fit to speak about finding one’s passions and living with purpose for other people. Nate’s can-do attitude is contagious, and his inspirational story resounds with any audience. Students, veterans, businesspersons, athletes and people from all walks of like can take something away from his unique story.

Movie Information

On the streets of Hollywood, a recently retired NFL player is saved from scandal by a homeless veteran suffering from PTSD. With their glory days behind them both, the two men bond in search of true purpose and identity. Inspired by actual events, MVP dramatizes the formation of Merging Vets & Players. The film features military veterans and former professional athletes both in front of and behind the camera. MVP was released in the fall of 2022.
