As a part of Month of the Military Child, the Sound of Freedom Golf Course will be holding a Drive, Chip & Putt Competition for the children ages 7-15 of authorized patrons on Saturday, Apr. 6 at 1 pm. This will be a family event with free food and a bounce house for younger kids beginning at noon. 

Age Groups for Boys & Girls

• 7-9
• 10-11
• 12-13
• 14-15
• Age groups may be combined if registrations for specific groups are deemed low

Competition & Scoring

Each participant will have three attempts at each skill - drive, chip, and putt - for a total of nine shots.

• Drive
  • Each player will have three drives to record their longest distance that remains in bounds
  • The winner in each age group (both divisions) will receive 10 points, with nine points for 2nd, eight points for 3rd, etc.
• Chip
  • Each player will chip three times and their cumulative distance from the hole will be recorded.
  • Points will be awarded as with the drive competition except first place will be for the lowest cumulative distance followed by the next lowest, etc.
• Putt
  • Each player will putt from approximately 12, 15, and 30 feet and their cumulative distance from the hole will be recorded.
  • Points will be awarded as with the chip competition.

Awards

• Medals will be awarded to the winner of each event in each age group
• Trophies will be awarded for first, second, and third place overall in each age group.
